Green peas

Green peas, or “garden peas,” are the small, spherical seeds that come from pods produced by the Pisum sativum plant. They have been part of the human diet for hundreds of years and are consumed all over the world. Strictly speaking, green peas are not vegetables.

Green peas, also known as garden peas, are the tiny, round seeds of the Pisum sativum plant that grow inside green, rounded pods. The peas are sweet and starchy, with a subtle flavor that has grassy and nutty undertones. The pods are usually 3–4 inches long and tough, and are not edible. However, some varieties, like sugar-podded peas and snow peas, have edible pods and can be eaten whole.

Green peas are a popular vegetable around the world and are often used in dishes like stir-fries, curries, noodles, soups, and stews. They can be eaten fresh or frozen, and pair well with other vegetables and spices. Green peas are also a good source of fiber, which can help improve gut health and blood sugar levels.
